Work Completed Date:

Hire Again: Yes

Approximate Cost: $27,000.00

Home Build Year: 1998

Description Of Work:

We did a complete kitchen remodel. Everything except the footprint, we put the cabinets back where the old ones came out. Chris did everything; demolition of old cabinets, move some electrical, install new cabinets, counter tops, appliances, and found and contracted a last minute wood floor refinishing.

Member Comments:

Chris did a fantastic job. He was very responsive, easy to work with, very knowledgeable, flexible, thorough, a good project manager. I was under a time crunch I had company coming from out of town for Thanksgiving and even though we decided to refinish the wood floors in the middle of the remodel he was able to finish on time. He left the area as clean and organized as possible when he left each day. He was very cost conscious and knew a lot about how to do things himself. All that and he brought us fresh eggs and vegetables from his garden, and would let my dog out to go to the bathroom! I love my new kitchen. I would hire him again, and recommend him without question.

Chris worked on an unfinished closet space for us. He framed it out, insulated, sheet rocked, primed, installed a light fixture, shelves and clothes rod. He was thorough, on-time, and kept things clean. He also installed a steel door in our barn/shop, replacing an old rotted frame. He then demoed the floor in our guest bath, removed wallpaper, and old countertop. The new tile floor is beautiful and sealed with epoxy grout, the walls were primed and a chair rail installed. The new countertop is lovely and compliments the new updated faucet and sink. He did a great job and moved easily from task to task. We would definitely hire Chris again. He's a great guy and doesn't cut corners. He was also very good with our 3 dogs who thought they should be helping him.

Description Of Work:

Joe assessed reason for warped sub-floors in living room- viewed joists under house. Ripped out particle board underlayment to expose underlying plywood- leveled floors with plywood, sleepers and some other magic that I don't understand, but it's perfect. We had already put hardwood floors into the conjoining room and started building the floors out in the living room (before we realized the floors were warped and called AAI for some serious intervention- see attached picture for before shot). Joe back filled open gaps with hardwoods, then trimmed uneven hardwood floor boards sticking out into the living room and capped that off with a very level, very straight perpendicular board. Now, we can build out from the perpendicular board as if it's a square wall- a fresh start (see attached picture for end result).

Member Comments:

I called Chris at AAI at 8pm on night fully expecting to ramble out another phone message pleading a contractor to help- but he answered and listened carefully to the problem, offering some initial suspicions and then agreeing to call the upcoming week to set up an appointment. I was called that week by Joe who set up an appointment-arrived on time and spent over an hour really assessing the floors- went into crawl space twice. He was very friendly, very knowledgeable-liked him immediately. We were told we'd get a quote in the next couple of days and we did. We set up a date to have floors repaired. Joe was here for 2 days- ripped out the ugliest looking under-layment you'll ever see down to the plywood, then worked his magic to get the room level. The floor looks awesome, it's level and Joe even swept the place clean before he left. Wonderful workmanship, clean lines, careful detail. Would hire these guys again in a milli-second. Truly an A+ contractor and so happy to have hired them!

We've used this company several times. They do excellent work. The worker arrived on time, was very detailed and was pleasant to work with. He did great quality work. This company did what they said they would do, which was excellent. When the jobs were complete, they cleaned up nicely. The price was reasonable and competitive, and includes materials as well as labor costs. I'm satisfied with their services, and I would use them again.

Chris did an excellent job. He did all the work by himself, in the time frame promised, and maintained high standards throughout. He was very good about cleaning up during and after the project and was sensitive to the needs of an 18-year old cat! He was pleasant and easy to work with. Both he and his wife were very professional in the bidding and other business aspects of the job. I would have no hesitation in using him again for future projects.

Other

Advanced Alterations & installation Chris has done some major remodel projects for us (Bathroom in 2008, All the house windows in 2009) and rather than go into all the boring details, let it be enough said that he is on "Speed Dial" in this house! It also goes without saying the work is AAA quality (I have remodeled 3 of my own homes myself over the years, so I can appreciate the work he does. I trust his workmanship and value his ideas with my projects. For me that is saying a lot! After all is said and done, he's a nice guy who does good work, what more can I say

Advanced Alterations and Installation-Chris Loar Chris totally remodeled our entire ground floor and did a fabulous job. Not only did he meet our budget, but the quality of his work is superior. Our kitchen, living room, laundry room and bathroom look brand new. I would definitely use Chris again.

Great Work Chris did a great job with a kitchen repair/remodeling project we had which was caused by a plumbing leak. It expanded into a complete reinstallation of the flooring in 4 other rooms along with cabinetry repairs, new countertops and a new tile backsplash. Chris did everything he said he would, on time and with a great 'can do' attitude. He had some great creative ideas for making the kitchen more 'user friendly'. He was also very neat and always cleaned up after himself, which we really appreciated. He made sure he did things right and didn't cut any corners. He was also flexible and agreeable if we made changes as the project progressed. We had Chris back to do an installation on an exterior grade door with new locksets a couple of months later. He had it done in no time and again, cleaned up afterwards and hauled away all the refuse. We will have Chris back in the future to work on our bathroom. He is very conscientious, honest and energetic!
